# FloatDeck — Privacy Policy

_Last updated: 2026-06-14_

FloatDeck is built to be private by design. **We do not collect, transmit, sell, or
share your personal data** — no analytics, no tracking, no FloatDeck servers — **except
an email address you voluntarily submit to our newsletter** (see "Newsletter" below).
Everything else the extension does runs locally in your browser.

## What FloatDeck stores (locally, on your device)
FloatDeck uses Chrome's built‑in storage to remember your preferences:

- **Settings** (`chrome.storage.sync`): your theme, accent, button size/opacity, slot
assignments, double‑tap favorite, edge‑snap, fullscreen auto‑hide, and the list of
sites you've hidden it on. If you're signed into Chrome, these sync across your own
devices via Google's account sync — FloatDeck never sees them.
- **Per‑device state** (`chrome.storage.local`): the button's position, per‑domain dark
mode / font size, page notes, saved highlights, your onboarding flag, and your license
  entitlement.

This data never leaves your browser except through Chrome's own sync (which is between
you and Google).

## Network connections
FloatDeck makes a network request **only** when you choose to activate, validate, or
deactivate a Pro license key. That request goes to **Lemon Squeezy** (our payment
provider) to verify the key. No browsing data, page content, or personal information is
included — only the license key you entered.

Some actions open a new tab to a third‑party site **that you explicitly trigger** (e.g.
Google Translate, Google Lens, a `mailto:` link). FloatDeck doesn't send anything in the
background; it just opens the URL you asked for.

## Page content
Actions like screenshots, reading mode, copy, highlight, and QR run **entirely in your
browser**. Captured images and copied text are placed on your clipboard or downloaded
locally — they are never uploaded anywhere.

## Permissions, briefly
- **storage** — save your settings/preferences locally.
- **tabs** — mute/duplicate/pin/reload the current tab and capture it for screenshots.
- **clipboardWrite** — copy links, text, colors, and screenshots when you ask.
- **sessions** — reopen your last closed tab.
- **Host access (all sites)** — required to show the floating button and run page
actions on the sites you visit. FloatDeck does not read or transmit page data on its
own; actions run only when you tap them.

## Newsletter (optional, opt‑in)
If you type your email into the optional "Stay in the loop" box in FloatDeck's settings,
that email is sent to our newsletter provider so we can email you product updates. This is
entirely opt‑in — FloatDeck never collects your email otherwise, and you can unsubscribe at
any time. We use it only to send FloatDeck updates.

## Payments
Purchases are handled by **Lemon Squeezy** (Merchant of Record). Your payment details are
processed by Lemon Squeezy/Stripe, not by FloatDeck. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy
for how they handle payment data.

## Children
FloatDeck is a general‑purpose utility and is not directed at children.

## Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
